ISS aims to increase the stock of affordable, accessible housing options for people with disabilities, to further the principles of self-determination. We accomplish this by purchasing small apartment buildings such as duplexes and quadplexes for use by the handicapped; apartments are occupied by one or two residents. We provide affordable rents to people with disabilities, and provide an accepting and supportive environment for each individual. As many of the apartments as feasible are made handicapped-accessible to meet the needs of the physically handicapped as well as the developmentally handicapped.

Specific services include:

1. Obtaining apartments for lease to the handicapped.
2. Making the apartment accessible to the needs of the user.
3. Endeavoring to provide reasonable long-term rental amounts.
